Frequently Asked Questions

Are personal dedicated aides permitted in the party with my child?
Yes. They must be listed under the "tips/suggestions" section of the registration form and provide proper identification upon arrival of the event. Even with a dedicated aide, party-goers who attend Slush & Krust events must be able to navigate social situations with occasional or minimal reminders or support and not display frequent, disruptive behaviors or actions.

What type of staffing will there be?  Anyone with specific experience/background working with kids on the spectrum?
Each Slush & Krust chaperone has at least 4 years of experience in the special education field. For more specific background information, please see our bios.

My child has sensory issues - noise, lights, etc.  What is the party mood like?  Loud music? Special effect lights (strobes, flashes)?  Can it be adapted to meet needs of my child?
While our party may mirror a typical party, we have the ability to adjust the volume of our music and the lighting of our strobes -- in addition to supplying sound reducing accommodations upon request.

What is your refund policy?
Cancellations made 2 days or more in advance of the event date, will receive a 100% refund. Cancellations made within 24 hours to the event will incur a 50% fee.

What age ranges are at these parties?  Are there other parties targeted to different age ranges?
Slush & Krust parties are currently for partygoers that are 18 and under. Since February of 2023, we have added parties for ages 18 and up (Club S&K).

What level of supervision is there?  Can kids leave (e.g., to go to the restroom) freely or is there a check-out/check-in procedure?
We will have adult supervision based on attendance during the event for party-goers that may have questions or require assistance. Party-goers will not be permitted to leave the party unless accompanied with a parent or an authorized guardian/adult. Restrooms are located near the dance floor and video game tournament site.

My child has severe food allergies. Is food served at these parties?
Yes, we will be serving pizza that contains milk, wheat, and soybean. Additionally, we will be serving soda and water.

Must a parent/guardian/adult remain for the party?
While parents are welcome to stay, we are encouraging a parent-free zone. However, for those parents that want to hang around, we have a small check-in lobby.

My child is very limited in his social skills.  Are the parties intended to provide social support or simply a venue and other party arrangements for kids to get together?
While all chaperones are trained and experienced in problem solving social issues that may arise, Slush & Krust parties simply provide a one-of-a-kind experience to our party-goers as well as establishing a supportive, inclusive and fun filled scene. We do not provide direct, specialized teaching or a direct, therapeutic component. However, party-goers will have the opportunity to make friends and build connections through an authentic teen experience that supports their needs without restricting their individuality and uniqueness.

What are the rules regarding arriving and leaving the party?
i. Upon arrival, all party-goers must be signed in by a parent/guardian.
ii. All party-goers must be signed out by a parent/guardian prior to departure, at which time, entry bracelet must be turned in. Re-entry is no longer permitted once bracelet is turned in.
